Sharman Park is a neighborhood park occupying parts of three blocks that are trisected by two neighborhood roads. The three predominant parcels of the park consist of an athletic field, a natural treed park with a kid’s playground, and an open field with an existing basketball court. The Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department undertook a program to close the trisecting streets and consolidate the park into a singular unified neighborhood park. The department contracted with another firm to re-plat the parcel, and contracted with Biscayne Engineering Company to finalize a master plan for the consolidated park. Biscayne Engineering Company was also contracted to provide construction documents and construction phase assistance to consolidate the park into a single parcel, to reconstruct the roadways to accommodate the park consolidation and include provisions for future improvement projects to the park. These improvements include an additional basketball court, a future community center and a future soccer field.
