George
C. Bolton has been an Associate for over 40 years with Biscayne
Engineering Company.
A Florida native, Bolton’s historical connection with BEC
has deep family lineage as his grandfather E.E. Harvey was one of
the original stock holders of the firm. He has managed to continue
the rich tradition of the firm’s integrity, professionalism
and experience having worked under some of the early predecessors.
Bolton’s extensive experience and educational background
ranges from having learned his trade with the US Army Reserves Artillery
Division, Army Corps of Engineers on Procedures and Types of use
of Surveying Equipment.
After being hired by BEC in 1949, Bolton was drafted and served
in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, upon which time he rejoined
BEC as Survey Party Chief under J.J. Bennet, J.A. Moore and A.B.
Mohr until 1957. Harry C. Schwebke who had received his training
from J.J. Bennett at BEC hired Bolton and eventually joined him
as part owner in 1967 before returning to BEC as Owner and Manager
in 1976.
Some of the more prominent projects Bolton has worked on are the
Right-of-Way survey for future I-95, I-75 and I-595 with the Florida
Department of Transportation Highway, along with Platting Surveying
for various subdivisions like Arvida, Devcon, General Development,
Westwood Lakes, Bel-Aire subdivisions.
Bolton was also instrumental in conducting the survey on Everglades
National Park for the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers as well as Downtown
Government Center Surveying for the City of Miami. He has served
as legal expert on numerous State and Federal cases involving plats,
land and faulty construction plans.
Bolton is a member of the Florida Society of Professional Surveyors
and Mappers, American Congress Surveying and Mapping, Past President,
Director of the Dade Chapter of Professional Surveyors and Mappers,
and instrumental in forming the Tricounty Surveyors Association.
